September News:

15th September 2011

Here's the first letter of the new year:

Welcome back to you all after the long summer break. You will receive a letter next week with important dates and events for the term. We will be adding to these dates during the term and they will also appear on our website which is updated on a weekly basis.

We welcome Miss Elen Hughes to our family here at Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbrân. Elen will begin her teaching career with us and will be teaching a class of Year 2 pupils

The Sports Club will be held for Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils every Tuesday from the 20th of September (until 4.30pm).

The ‘Child of the Week’Assembly will be held every Tuesday morning at 9.10am. One child will be chosen every week from each class to receive a certificate in the special assembly. Parents are notified on a Friday.

The school will be closed for staff training this term on the 30th of September.

This year we intend to change the arrangements for the open evenings. The first open evenings will be held on the 26th and 27th of September. This will be an early opportunity for you to meet your child’s new teacher. It will be also a suitable time for you to receive information and to plan and set targets for improvement with the class teacher at the beginning of the academic year. You will receive a slip next week with the date and time for your appointment with the teacher. You will have ten minutes with the teacher to be fair to everyone and to help the evening run smoothly. There will be a Scholastic Book Fayre and a Welsh Book Stall in the school hall during both evenings. There will be additional Open Evenings in January 2012, an Open Day in March 2012 and Open Evenings during the Summer Term.

Thank you

Edward Wyn Jones
Headteacher
